Vertical shaft (294 ft deep?)

Serving Uphall Oil Works

A substantial pit, exploiting Broxburn Shale from an area to the south west of the pit. Workings seem to have latterly been linked to those of Forkneuk No. 1 Pit and Forkneuk No. 38 Mine. Linked to Uphall Oil Works by a standard gauge mineral railway.

The pithead site lies in rough ground to the north of Rosemount Drive. The bing seems to have been been levelled and no trace remains of pithead buildings. The railway passing the pit site linked Uphall and Hopetoun oil works and closed in 1953.
