The adits of this short-lived mine exploited the northwestern corner of the Forkneuk shale field and linked to Forkneuk No. 1 Pit and Forkneuk No. 9 & 10 Pits. They were known as the Coronation pits as they were started in 1902, the year of the Coronation of Edward VII

Concrete plinths with foundation bolts probably mark the site of a winding house, the location of two adits are marked by areas of subsidence, and the waste bing remains clearly defined. Close by, the landowner appears to be actively filling in areas of subsidence related to stoop and room working.
