The mine site is still marked by and area of bing and rough ground, which has been quarried in recent years, revealing large blocks of fused red blaes. Shown on mining plans as an unnamed inclined shaft accessing a small reserve of Raeburn shale. Show only as a waste mound on the 1895 OS, so the mine presumable served Boghall Oil Works

      • The outcrop of the (Raeburn) shale has been traced between the Starlaw and Gardners Hall, and in a bore near the former locality it is one foot nine inches thick, and was worked near Starlaw by a small mine.
