A limited company formed to take forward the business of the Oakbank Oil Co., the partners of which became the directors of the new company. The Mid-Calder Mineral Oil Co. Ltd advertised the Oakbank works and mineral field for sale in February 1868, and the business was subsequently carried forward by a new firm, the Oakbank Oil Co. Ltd. The Mid-Calder company appears to have continued in an inactive state until 1881.

The company are listed in the 1870 Post Office directory for Edinburghshire as "Mid-calder Mineral Oil Co. Ltd., - N.M. Henderson, Manager, resident at East cottage, Midcalder."
