Probably the most significant of a number of oil businesses in Lanarkshire and Ayrshire operated by members of Baird family (see J. &. J. Baird). It appears that John Baird (junior) undertook the day to day management of the company in partnership with his uncle (?), John Baird. A public company, the Annick Lodge Oil Company Limited, was launched in 1885 to take the business forward..
